The power of words

In this journey of life, we often forget to appreciate one another. It’s easy to say, “Oh, poor thing” or “How sad.” But do we take a moment to recognize someone for who they are, what they’ve lost, and what they’ve gained?

As humans, we all seek comfort. Embraces aren’t just physical; warm words of encouragement can make a profound difference. They can lift a defeated spirit or help a shattered soul find hope.

Throughout my struggles, and as I’ve supported others on their journeys, I’ve realized the immense power of words. Words can heal, hurt, shatter, and uplift. They can change someone’s day—or even their life.

So, are we expressing this enough? Simple words of appreciation are vital to our existence. Phrases like:

  • “You did well.”

  • “I am grateful for you.”

  • “I appreciate how you feel.”

  • “I may not understand, but I am right here.”

  • “It is tough, and it may get tougher, but I am here for you.”

  • “I am proud of you.”

  • “You’ve got this.”

These words can create a supportive environment where everyone feels valued.

But let’s not forget the importance of speaking kind words to ourselves. We must also appreciate who we are and acknowledge our own journeys. Words of love, faith, and power must be spoken within ourselves.

Remind yourself:

  • “I am enough.”

  • “I believe in my abilities.”

  • “I deserve love and happiness.”

  • “I am proud of what I’ve achieved.”

Self-appreciation is just as crucial as appreciating others. It helps us build resilience and fosters a positive mindset.

In the end, it’s the connections we build and the comfort we provide—both to ourselves and others—that truly matter. Let’s embrace the power of our words and use them to uplift one another.
